Welcome to Hollywood! What's your dream?
For the first time ever, the United States has a legal, employed gigolo.  A brothel in Nevada has just hired "Markus", surprise, surprise, it's not his real name.  Markus who hails from Alabama, traveled to Los Angeles to become a porn star but left after filming only two scenes.  After answering an ad he was hired after Bobbi Davis, owner of The Shady Lady Ranch selected him from a list of 10 serious candidates, even though she received hundred of applications.  One positive attribute that got Markus the job, was that he isn't afraid to deal with heavy publicity, and so far, he has had to do just that.  He claims to be well spoken but has been forbidden by his employer to give any more interviews after several questionable comments, including comparing himself to Rosa Parks.

He and his employer have felt the heat.  He, for refusing to service same sex clientele, something that other prostitutes say goes with the territory.  Bobbi's husband and co-owner Jim says they are not interested in establishing a gay male clientele but are leaving the decision up to Markus.  Bobbi is catching flack for even bothering to get state and county approval to hire a male prostitute.  Her opponents claim several different reasons why she's made a mistake.  Some reasons, like medical screening, seem a genuine concern.  Male clients who come to brothels are inspected for signs of disease and cleaned "thoroughly".  Lobbyist for the Nevada Brothel Owners Association, George Flint, is concerned that thoroughly screening female clients will not be possible.  He also voices concern that Bobbi Davis is in danger of "bruising" the multi-million dollar industry.  One competing brothel owner doesn't think that it's possible for male and female prostitutes to work at the same establishment.

I guess only time will tell if the world's oldest profession just evolved.
