California Supreme Court to Review Jessica's Law Residency Restrictions
The California Supreme Court will hear argument regarding the residency restrictions imposed on convicted sex offenders as a result of Jessica's Law or Proposition 83.  Jessica's Law prohibits sex offenders from living within 2,000 feet of schools, daycare centers, and parks.  Many law enforcement officials have urged that the law be changed because it is difficult to enforce and increases the likelihood that offenders will become homeless because they are forced to move away from longtime residences or refuse to report an accurate address.  Both of these unintended results make it more difficult for probation and parole officers to monitor their charges.

If you are charged with a sex offense, or have been charged with one in the past, contact Stacie L. Patterson (619) 269-8074.
