In an attempt to reduce abuse of prescription drugs, and instances of accidental drug-related fatalities, "Prescription Drug Take Back Day" was introduced in September. Across the Nation, 121 tons of pills were turned in at different sites, no questions asked. San Diego County had 24 locations and collected more than 4,000 pounds of expired or un-used pills.
