I represented a mother who had been listed on the CACI. A school employee noticed bruises on the girl's arms and called Health and Human Services, aka CPS. The CPS worker decided my client had improperly disciplined her daughter.
At the hearing, we were able to show the tremendous parenting efforts my client used to deal with a difficult situation. More than that, we were able to humanize my client and place my client's actions in light of the day-to-day struggles we all face. I was able to show my client to be a caring and hardworking mother who did not deserve to be on the CACI.
