Renewing Your Nursing License After A Conviction
Nurses who have been convicted of a crime and would like to renew their nursing license must provide the California Board of Registered Nursing supplemental documentation.  BRN requires nurses with criminal convictions to submit:

·         letter of explanation

·         certified arrest and court records or out of state discipline documents

·         letters of reference

·         current work performance evaluation

BRN’s list does not provide guidance on writing a compelling letter of explanation.  A professional license defense attorney can help a nurse in this situation submit a compelling package to BRN increasing the nurse's chance of success.

If you have suffered a criminal conviction and need to renew your nursing license, contact Professional License Defense Attorney Stacie L. Patterson at (619) 269-8074.
