In 2002 Instymeds Corp. introduced pharmaceutical kiosks in order to make life more simple for patients. The vending machines are installed in about 200 locations around the country. While prescription approval from insurance companies can sometimes take more than a day, the machines can usually fill a prescription in about 10 minutes.
The robotic pharmacy in at least one clinic is operated by nurses or medical assistants. Other machines can be operated by the patients themselves.
