0 Comments | Add Comment SB 76 Circumscribes Early Release For Some Prisoners
The same day that Governor Schwarzenegger signed SB 1399,
authorizing the early release of physically incapacitated inmates, he also
signed SB 76, a measure to reduce the number of some inmates eligible for early
release.
In response to complaints from proponents, who are concerned for public safety,
SB 76 further limits how quickly certain inmates can earn release for good
behavior. The early release credits have been decreased from
one-half to one-third, for prisoners serving time for misdemeanors.
