Soles4Souls - A Way To Help Haitian Earthquake Survivors
We all want to help when disaster strikes.  Sometimes it's easy to lend assistance, other times, it's very difficult.  When disasters with such magnitude as Hurricane Katrina or the current crisis in Haiti hits, even though we want to help, sometimes we are weighed down by sheer magnitude.  Overwhelming thoughts of; "What can I do?"  "I'm just one."  "I'm so far away." "I don't have any room in my budget"  strike and can render us immobile to act at all.

As I watch and listen to the news from Haiti, my heart breaks many times a day.  I ask myself those same questions, and yet, I do feel a burning desire, even a need to help.  These are the times when as human beings, we forget our differences and band together.  We have the ability to help, we have the capacity to love, and we can make a difference.

I have heard that there are "no donations too small", but sometimes, it doesn't feel like that, when we have but little to give.  Now can be the time for you to make a big difference for someone in Haiti.  In these times, when we are overwhelmed by the size of the problem, it is easy to overlook small necessities.  Why would we think about something as insignificant as shoes when we see so many in need of medical care and clean water?  The streets in Haiti are strewn with rubble; broken glass, concrete and even raw sewage.

Soles4Souls has partnered with Operation Compassion, a charity that mobilizes support for victims of natural disasters around the world, to transport and distribute the aid.  Thirty containers of supplies, including work boots, rain boots, children's athletic shoes and clothing items, are already en route to Haiti!  Soles4Souls has also partnered with Sport Chalet to donate more than 250,000 pairs of shoes to affected areas.  Now through January 31st, customers can drop off gently worn shoes at Sport Chalet locations.  Do you have a pair of shoes that you were going to toss out but are still in pretty good condition?  Toss them in your trunk instead, and the next time you pass a Sport Chalet, drop them off.  There are 43 locations in California alone!  Take the step that will make a significant difference a world away.
